| NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN TEACHING CHILDREN OF THE WORLD ABOUT LOVE, MUSIC, YOGA AND MEDITATION. |
Gina Marie Slager from Gina Marie's Singsong & Yoga for Children is from Frankfort, Illinois. She is the honored mother of Benjamin (13), Henry (5), and Fiona (2). Her teaching of yoga began nine years ago. She would see the strength, smiles, happiness and lightheartedness in her own children and decided to start Gina Marie's Singsong & Yoga so she could watch other children smile, laugh and play. She is a certified yoga teacher; trained at the Temple of Kriya Yoga and Spirit Rising Yoga of Chicago. Gina has brought yoga programs to women, men, seniors, teens, pre-school, elementary, middle and high school level. She wrote the original music and released her first childrens' CD in December, 2008, called the Blue Alligator. Gina offers unique programs for Pre-k through elementary levels, via libraries, childrens' museums, preschools and elementary schools.
ON CREATIVE PARENTING, Gina says:
"I love being a mother, I really enjoy my children. I believe this CD helps families to think out of the box and enjoy life. I like to create a space for children, including my own children, of understanding, listening and working with them in unique ways. It's all about changing your mind with regard to certain habits or patterns we put ourselves into. It's easy to parent in same way all the time, but we need to work with one another to create new venues for parenting with love and kindness. This is what my program is about changing your mind about parenting. The Blue Alligator works as another tool or venue to parent with love and kindness. Singing these songs reminds me of how short of a time we have with our children, so..... just have fun.
"For example, one of my songs is called, 'The Blue Alligator.' I was coloring with my son Henry and I colored an alligator blue. He said, "mom, why did you color the alligator blue and not green?" I told him that it doesn't matter what color you decide to color the alligator, just have fun. You can color that alligator any color that you choose. "The Blue Alligator" was the first song I wrote for the childrens' CD.
"This CD also works with social change whatever it takes to save a child. UNICEF, Children's International and a local food pantry called "The Morningstar Mission" are just a few organizations I have worked with on a personal level. I give part of my proceeds to these organizations. They have helped overcome obstacles such as poverty, politics, and even war.
"My vision is to uplift families and children and make them smile, laugh and sing! Parents and children will love the positive messages and inspiring yoga songs throughout this fun and uplifting CD."
